While chlorinating unit 2, it was realised that the CCW pumps were not in operation providing adequate dilution of water to the environment.

Ch3.orination began at 1625 hours0.0188 days <br />0.451 hours <br />0.00269 weeks <br />6.183125e-4 months <br />, 11-6-80, and was terminated at 1120 hours0.013 days <br />0.311 hours <br />0.00185 weeks <br />4.2616e-4 months <br />, 11-7-80.

Maximum chlorination level measure'd in the raw cooling water was

.49 ppm.

Compliance with the residual chlorine limit of 0.05 MG/L can not be confirmed for unit 2 CCW discharge.

Corrective Action

Chlorination was immediat'ely stopped upon discovery of CCW pumps not in operation.

Plant instructions will be revised to include. verification that the CCW pumps are operating.priof to beginning chlorination.
