January
2 - February 2,
1979,
of activities authorized
by
NRC License
Nos.
DFR-52,
and DPR-68 for the Browns Ferry, Units 1, 2,
and
3 facility,
and to the discussion of our findings held with J.
G. Dewease at the conclusion
of the inspection.
Areas
examined
during the inspection
and our findings are
discussed
in the
enclosed
inspection report.
Within these
areas,
the inspection consisted of
selective
examinations
of procedures
and representative
records,
interviews
with personnel,
and observations
by the inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection,
no items of noncompliance
were disclosed.
One new unresolved
item resulted
from this inspection
and is discussed
in the
inspection report.
We are concerned
about this item involving a Unit
1 short
period which occurred
on January
18,
1979.
In your response
to this letter,
please
address
the steps
taken to improve your administrative
controls
and
operator training to preclude recurrence of similar events.
In accordance
with Section 2.790 of the
NRC's
"Rules of Practice",
Part 2,
Title 10,
Code of Federal Regulations,
a copy of this letter and the enclose'd
inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document
Room. If this
. report contains

make
