QUARTERLY DATA REPORT SHNPF SEISMIC MONITORING PROGRAM 1 1983 DECEMBER 31, 1983'CTOBER Carolina Power & Light Company (CPSL) has completed another quarter of operation of its seismic monitoring program at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant site near New Hill, North Carolina. During this period a total of 127 cultural events were recorded with an S P of less than 5 seconds. No local earthquakes were detected.

Of these 127 events, 31 were confirmed as being explosions by responsible companies 'or agencies. The remaining 96 events displayed the signature and arrival pattern typical of previously identified cultural events and none occurred at night or on a weekend or holiday.
