QUARTERLY DATA REPORT SHNPP SEISMIC MONITORING PROGRAM JULY 1, 1983 SEPTEMBER 30, 1983 Carolina Power
& Light Company has completed another quarter of operation of its seismic monitoring program at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant site near New Hill, North Carolina.
During this period a total of 122 cultural events were recorded with an S-P of less than 5.seconds.
Of these 122 events, 99 were confirmed as being explosions by the responsible companies or agencies.
The remaining 23 events displayed the signature and arrival pattern of previously identified cultural events and all of them occurred during the daylight hours.
Only one of these events was recorded on a weekend or holiday:

Construction The signature and arrival pattern of this event are identical to 20 other events recorded during this quarter that were confirmed as being explosions from the construction activity for the new runway at the Raleigh-Durham airport, approximately 30 kilometers northeast of the Shearon Harris plant site.
Of these 20 confirmed explosions, 4 also occurred on a Saturday.
