JAN 16 1980 Docket Nos. 50-400/401/402/403 APPLICANT:
Carolina Power and Light Company FACILITY:
Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1, 2, 3 5 4
SUBJECT:
SUSMRY OF MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 10, 1980, TO DISCUSS TENDERING OF OPERATING LICENSE APPLICATION FOR SHEARON HARRIS A meeting was held on January
- 10. 1980, between Carolina Power and Light Company (CP8L) and the staff, at the applicant's
- request, to discuss tendering of an operating license application for the Shearon Harris facility.
An attendees list is enclosed.
CPSL stated that they plan to tender their FSAR in June 1980 in order to support a core load for Unit 1 in June 1983.
The applicant reasoned that a 36 month period was considered appropriate based on historical data.
The 36 months includes the pre-docket review time and a contested public hearing after the SER is issued.
The applicant stated that the June 1983 operating license for Unit 1 could become a matter of great urgency for them.
Spent fuel storage for their "three operating units, Robinson, Unit 2 and Brunswick, Units 1 and 2 will be exhausted in 1983; therefore spent fuel from those facilities must be stored at Shearon Harr is Unit 1 after the operating license is issued in 1983.
CPSL stated that a utility task force has been established to follow THI issues.
Further they are moving ahead with a program for the environmental qualification 'of equipment.
A brief discussion followed regarding the staff's views of anticipated changes to the review process based on what is being done with in-house applications.
