SUBJECT:
On April 27, 1979, lead responsibility for the review and acceptance of seismic Category 1'ill placement criteria and test criteria'was transferred to DPN for the following:
1.
back fill against Category 1 structures in the Power Block area,-
2.
central core fillmaterial for the Pain Dam, the Auxiliary -Dam and the Separating Dike, and
- 3. 'ill and back'ill supportingCategory 1 pipes and conduits.
The applicant in a letter dated ttay 4 from O'. A. ttcDuffie to Harold R. Denton provided revised placement and test criteria for back fillagainst seismic Category 1 structures and core construction for the dams and the dike (Items 1 and 2 above).
Me have reviewed the proposed criteria and found them acceptable for the placement of fill in, those 'areas.
I The applicant has not provided NRR information regarding the already inplace fill which is not within specification.
18E is requested to determine whether the applicant plans to replace that material with fill meeting specification.
If the applicant does not plan to rgp1ace the fill, we will re'quire additional information regarding the inplace material (see attached memo from'Robert E. Jaf.kson to Olan D. Parr).
Please advise us as to how the applicant plan's to proceed.
