SUBJECT:

INSPECTION PLAN FOR SHEARON HARRIS

Dear Mr. Scarola:

On May 10, 1999, the NRC staff held a planning meeting for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant to identify the inspection activities at your facility over the next six months.

This meeting was held to support the pilot of the new oversight process.

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of our planned inspection activities so that you willhave an opportunity to prepare for these inspections and to provide us with feedback on any planned inspections which may conflict with your plant activities.

We may decide to augment these inspection activities with other inspectors or technical reviewers in order to train these individuals in our new oversight process.-

Therefore, some of these inspection activities may involve more NRC personnel than customary for a routine baseline inspection.

During the next six months, starting June 1, 1999, we plan to conduct the inspections shown on the enclosed inspection plans.

These inspections represent the planned baseline inspections (formerly core). Enclosure 1 lists the specifically scheduled inspections which willbe completed within the next six months. lists the periodic inspections that willbe completed within the next six months.

Should you have any questions on these inspection plans, please contact me at (404) 562-4560.

Sincerely, Orig signed by Brian R. Bonser Brian R. Bonser, Chief Reactor Projects Branch 4 Division of Reactor Projects Docket No. 50<00 License No. NPF-63
