Dear Mr. Singh:
I am responding to your March 11, 1999, letter to the Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
In your letter, you provided comments on a January 22, 1999 letter, from Mr. David Lochbaum of the Union of Concerned Scientists to the Chairman and Commissioners of the NRC. Mr. Lochbaum's letter provided comments on the staff's proposed no significant hazards consideration determination for the Shearon Harris spent fuel pool expansion license amendment request (64 Federat~Re tater 2237, January 13, 1999).
Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. The NRC staff responded to Mr. Lochbaum's letter on February 26, 1999, informing him that it willconsider his comments, along with any others received during the comment period, in the safety evaluation for the Shearon Harris spent fuel pool expansion amendment request.
