I am responding to your letter of February 10, 1999, to Mr. Scott Flanders of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff, In your letter, you requested a 30-day extension of time to provide comments on the NRC staff's proposed no significant hazards'consideration determination with respect to Carolina Power 8 Light Company's (CPB L's) proposed increase in the spent fuel storage capacity at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant in Wake County, 9

The comment period expired on February 12, 1999. The staff does not intend to extend the comment period for this notice.
However, in light of your February 10, 1999 letter, the staff will consider any comments the Board of Commissioners may have ifthey are received within a reasonable time after receipt of this letter.
