SPENT FUEL SURVEY COMMITMHNTS FOR SIKARON HARRIS, UNIT I, NUCLEAR POWER PLANT (TAG NO. M95885)

Dear Mr. Robinson:

During the month of April, 1996, I conducted a survey of the spent fuel practices and spent fuel pool cooling (SFP) system design and current licensing basis for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant,,Unit 1

(SHNNP).

During the survey, in discussions with your staff, the following statements were made:

(1) that the current spent fuel pool heatload analysis will be updated for current and future practices/assumptions, (2) that the SHNNP FSAR will-be revised to address the full-core offloads that were being conducted, during your past refueling outages, which include'the clarification or deletion of terminologies such as "normal" and "abnormal" that are currently stated in the

FSAR, and (3) that the SHNPP FSAR will be revised to reflect the 'current as-installed SFP configuration (e.g.;

incorrect heat, exchanger

flows, non-completed unit 2

equipment, etc...)

Accordingly, I am requesting that you provide a letter within 30 days of receipt of this letter that confirms these commitments and indicates the projected completion date for each of these actions.

,These commitments will then be included in future inspection reports and will be'racked by the regional office until completion.
