This refers to the Nuclear Regulatory
Commission
(NRC) administered
examinations
led by Edwin Lea, Jr. during the period March 28-31,
1994.
The
examinations
were administered
to employees of your company
who had applied
for licenses
to operate
the Shearon
Harris Nuclear
Power Plant.
At the
conclusion of the examination,
the examinations
and preliminary findings were
discussed
with those
members of your staff identified in the
NRC Examination
Report,
Enclosure l.
A Simulator Facility Report is included in this report
as Enclosure
2.
A copy
of the written examination questions
and answer
key,
as noted in Enclosure
3,
was provided to members of your training staff at the conclusion of the
examination.
The enclosed
Examination Report identifies activities which violated
NRC
requirements
but will not be subject to enforcement
action because
the
licensee's
efforts in identifying and/or correcting the violation met the
criteria specified in Section VII.B of the Enforcement Policy.
In October
1993,
seven
candidates
from your facility participated
in the
Generic
Fundamentals
Examination Section,
and all seven
candidates
passed
the
examination.
In February
1994,
one candidate
from your facility participated
in the Generic
Fundamentals
Examination Section,
and the candidate
passed
the
examination.
In accordance
with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice,"
a copy of
this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the
NRC Public Document
Room.
