Region II Reactors Division of Reactor Projects - I/II Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation REVIEW OF CAROLINA POWER 8( LIGHT COMPANY'S MODIFICATION TO ALTERNATE MINI-FLOW LINES FOR SAFETY INJECTION PUMPS AT HARRIS (TIA 92-30)
By memorandum dated October 1,
- 1992, you requested that we review the licensee's modification to determine the acceptability of their design change and provide the results to Region II prior to plant restart from the current refueling outage.
The NRR staff has completed the review and has concluded that the modification to the alternate mini-flow (AHF) lines for the Safety Injection pumps at the Harris plant is acceptable contingent upon the satisfactory completion of post-modification testing of the four motor-operated valves in the modified AHF lines.
This conclusion was discussed between E.
Adensam of my staff and D. Verrelli of your staff during the week of November 15, 1992.
The staff issued the enclosed safety evaluation regarding the subject review to the licensee on November 27, 1992.
