NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-400/92-09

This refers to the inspection conducted by A. T. Boland of.this office on
June 1-5, 1992.
The inspection included a review of activities authorized for your
Shearon Harris facility. At the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were dis-
cussed with those members of your staff identified in the report.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report.
Within these
areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and
representative
records, interviews with personnel,
and observation of activities in
progress.
Based on the results of this inspection, certain of your activities appeared to be in
violation of NRC requirements.
Because the licensee's efforts in identifying and
correcting the violation meet the criteria in Section V.G. of the Enforcement Policy
and the violation was determined to be isolated with minor safety significance, the
'ssue
regarding the adequacy of leak testing for certain sealed sources will not be
subject to enforcement
action.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a),
a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be
placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
