EVALUATION MODEL CHANGES Gentlemen:
The purpose of this letter is to provide Carolina Power
& Light Company's (CP&L) schedule for restoration of the analyses of record as required by 10 CFR 50.46 and 10 CFR 50, Appendix K for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP).
On July 26, 1991, CP&L notified the NRC of changes to the Emergency Core Cooling System (ECCS) Evaluation Model for SHNPP.
Subsequently, by letter dated January 15,
- 1992, the NRC informed CP&L that the July 1991 submittal satisfies the requirements of 10 CFR 50.46 to report the changes and to assure that 10 CFR 50.46 performance requirements continue to be met.
- However, the NRC requested that CP&L propose a schedule for reanalysis of the large and small break Loss of Coolant Accidents (LOCAs).
CP&L plans for the reanalysis of both the large and small break LOCA events prior to Cycle 6 for SHNPP, which will coincide with a change in nuclear fuel vendors.
Accordingly, these analyses of record will be approved and in place to support Refueling Outage No. 5, currently scheduled to begin in March 1994.
