SUBJECT:
SUNf1ARY OF THE OCTOBER 12, 1989 MEETING REGARDING STEAM GENERATOR TUBE RUPTURE ANALYSIS A meeting was held with Carolina Power
& Light Company (CP&L) on October 12, 1989 in Rockville, HaryIand.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the steam generator tube rupture analysis for Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1 (Harris).
CP&L R. Prunty A. Stalker J.
Eads L. Costello NRC R. Becker K. Desai A. Gilbert G. West Presently, Harris has a plant specific steam generator tube rupture (SGTR) analysis reviewed and accepted with the condition that operator action times used in the analysis be verified by collecting and comparing to similar operator action times obtained from simulator exercises of SGTR events.
If the results of the simulator data are less conservative than those assumed for the current SGTR analysis, a revised analysis is to be resubmitted prior to startup from the current refueling outage.
In Hay, CP&L submitted the simulator operator action times which were less conservative than the assumed times, therefore, requiring the analysis to be resubmitted.
CP&L discussed the re-analysis with respect to content, schedule and areas which were changed.
From the new analysis of the SGTR event using simulator operator action times, CP&L concludes that no steam generator overfill wi 11 occur and offsite radiological doses are well within the acceptance criteria of the Standard Review Plan, Section 15.6.3.
and 10 CFR Part 100.
