DMossburg PPAS I am pleased to respond to your letter to Mr. Denton which we received June 6, 1986, in which you stated that the "NRC should not reduce the evacuation requirements to only a 2 mile radius" for the Shearon Harris nuclear power plant.

I would like to assure you that there has been no action taken by the NRC to reduce the emergency plan requirements to 2 miles for Shearon Harris, nor has CPSL made such a request to the NRC.

I can assure you that no action will be taken by the staff that would jeopardize the health and safety of the public.
