SUBJECT:

TURKEY POINT UNITS 3 AND 4 - AMENDMENT REQUEST REGARDING RESISTANCE TEMPERATURE DETECTOR (RTD)

BYPASS REPLACEMENT (TAC NOS.

77633 AND 77634)

The purpose of this letter is to alert you to possible delays in processing your Turkey Point license amendment request of September 13, 1990, "Resistance Temperature Detector Bypass Replacement."

In a conference call on October ll, 1990, it was apparent that numerous errata related to Westinghouse Proprietary

Report, WCAP-12632, "RTD Bypass Elimination Licensing Report for Tur key Point Units 3 and 4" have been discovered, and that a review is underway to verify the document's accuracy.

When your review is complete, these errata should be submitted to the

NRC, so we can complete our Safety Evaluation in a timely manner.

In addition, the staff would like to review two references mentioned on page 3 of Attachment 2 (No Significant Hazards Determination) of your amendment proposal; the references are SECL-89-1164 and FPL-90-606.

These reports should be submitted on the docket.
