SEISflIC QUALIFICATION OF AUXILIARY FEEDWATER SYSTEfl-TURKEY POINT PLANT UNITS 3 AND 4 Generic letter 81-14,, "Seismic gualification of Auxiliary Feedwater Systems,"

dated February 'l0, 1981, requested licensees to (1) conduct a walk-down of non-seismically qualified portions of the AFW system and identify deficiencies amenable to simple actions to improve seismic resistance and (2) provide design information regarding the seismic capability of the AFM system to facilitate NRC backfit decisions.

By letters dated September 18, 1981, Ap'Iil 9, 1982, Hay 25, 1982 and August 10, 1983.

Florida Power and Light Company responded to the concerns identified in Generic letter 81-14.

He have-reviewed your responses and the enclosed Safety Evaluation provides the details and results of our review.

The conclusions are based on the enclosed Technical Evaluation Repor t prepared by our consultant, Lawrence Livennore National Laboratory, and the information provided in your last submittal.

lie have concluded that there is reasonable assurance that the AFlJ system has sufficient capability to withstand a safe shutdown earthquake and accomplish its safety function.
