This is to inform you of our near-term plans to assess the results from your Independent Management Appraisal Program.

Comments on your plans for this program (submitted in response to NRC Order EA 87-85 of October 19, 1987) were previously provided to you in my letter dated December 6, 1987.

Our assessment of the results from the independent appraisal wi 11 begin immediately since the report, resulting from the work of your independent contractor (ENERCON Services),

has been submitted to the NRC.

The NRC will assess whether the ENERCON Independent Management Appraisal of the Turkey Point Plant and FP&L was sufficient in scope,

depth, and thoroughness to provide a high level of assurance that the remaining significant problems adversely affecting Turkey Point performance, together with the underlying (root) causes, have been identified and accurately described.
