I NRC Bulletin 87-02 requested licensees to review their receipt "inspection requirement's and internal controls for fasteners and independently determine, through
- testing, whether fasteners (studs,
- bolts, cap screws and nuts) in stores at their facilities meet required mechanical and chemical specification requirements.
By letter dated January 12, 1988 (L-88-14),
FPL provided a
schedule to complete the response by February 12, 1988.
A total of 22 fasteners were.
independently tested with only slight variations found between the manufacturer's test results and the independent test results.
All the fasteners were found to be acceptable-for continued use.
The attached material contains the answer to the specific questions addressed in the bulletin, the results of the independent test and the Engineering evaluation of the discrepancies identified.
The attached information is provided pursuant to Section 128a of.
the Atomic Energy Act of
- 1954, as amended.
