Thank you for your revised

response

of March 14, 1986, to our Notice of Violation

issued

on July 10,

1985,

concerning activities

conducted

at your Turkey Point

facility.

Me have evaluated

your response

to findings

1 through

5 and found

that they meet the requirements

of 10 CFR 2.201.

We note,

however, that your

response

to finding 2(a)

was deficient in that it did not address

the negative

impact of knots

on the working and breaking strengths

of rope such

as

was

used to

lift the hafnium burnable

poison

assemblies.

Since you have committed,

as part

of your corrective actions,

to

use

a nylon sling for future lifting activities,

we have elected

not to further pursue this matter.

Me will examine the implementa-

tion of your corrective actions during future inspections.

With regard to finding 6,

we are

unable to evaluate

the acceptability of your

response

since

you failed to identify the edition and addendum of the

ASME code

to which your response

referred.

Please

submit to this office within 30 days of

the date of this letter

a supplemental

response

to finding 6, identifying the

t

edition and addendum of the referenced

ASME code

and the basis for its use.
