Turke Point Unit Nos.
3 and 4
~ About 5:00 p.m. April 29, 1982, Turkey Point Unit 3 tripped due to feed flow-steam flow mismatch and SG low level Caused by"a condensate pump motor failure (one pump was already out of service).
~ Within minutes Unit 4 tripped - due to loss of power to rod position indicators which were being fed by Unit 3.

~ The ensuing grid instability dropped Cape Canaveral and Sanford (fossil units).
~ St, Lucie (nuclear ) was not affected.
Turkey Point 1 (fossil) was not affected.
Turkey Point 2 (fossil) was out for maintenance.
~ About 2100 MM of about 7100 MM on line was lost (about 600,000 customers affected),

~ Power was restoredwithin three hours, Unit 3 went on natural circulation and stayed there for about on hour with no problem.
The diesels (2) started normally.
The Unit 3 startup transformer had been out for mainte'nance before the trip and was restored at about 6:00 p.m.

~ Unit 3 is still at 505 because of condensate pump (two of three are out).
The pumps are being repaired.
~ Unit 4 tripped again at about 6:00 a.m. April 30, 1982, due to SG low level caused by a problem with a Sue+ regulating valve.
The details are not known as yet.
