Mr. James P. O'Reilly, Region II Office of Inspection and Enforcement U.

S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 101 Marietta Street, Suite 3100 Atlanta, Georgia 30303;

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

Re:

RII:JPO 50-250 IE Bulletin 79-14 Based on information we submitted on September 26, 1979 (L-79-273), your office recently concurred with our request to perform the remaining IE Bulletin 79-14 inspections at Turkey Point Unit 3 during the upcoming refueling outage.

That outage had been scheduled to begin about November 20, 1979.

The purpose of this letter is to advise you that the refueling outage is now scheduled to begin about December 2, 1979, The schedule for the Unit 3 refueling outage has been dependent for quite some time on the delivery of the replacement rotors for the low pressure turbines.

We have just been advised by our turbine vendor (Westinghouse) that the delivery dates for the rotors have been delayed until about December 13, 1979 and January 4,

1980.

As a result, the outage start date has been rescheduled to about December 2,

1979 in order to integrate the refueling shutdown with scheduled turbine maintenance and avoid an unnecessary extension of the outage.

We will keep you advised any of any further significant schedule changes.

Very truly yours, Robert E. Uhrig Vice President Advanced Systems 5 Technology REU/MAS/paf cc:
