SITE VISITS -,TURKEY POINT AND ST. LUCIE DOCKET NOS. 50-250/251 AND 50-389 On September 10

1979, we visited the Turkey Point plant; The purpose of the visit was to see the proposed location of the buildirig for the temporary storage of'he six steam generators.

lte met with the licensee (see attached list of attendees) and discussed the building design and design bases.

The licensee is currently finalizing the design and will probably be sending us final design details that were not available in the Safety Evaluation dated Hay 14, 1979.

Based on these final design details and other relevant infor'-

mation, we will prepare our response'o the contention on the temporary stor age of the six steam generators, On September 11, 1979, we met with Tom Grozan and Jack Detlastry of Florida Power and Light. tteignspected the beach cannes at the St. Lucie site to deter-mine if significant erosion had occurred during Hurricane David, r4ich passed over the site on September 3, 1979, Based on our observation of the dunes and the vegetation, no significant erosion has occurred.
However, we will not make a final statement on the ability of the dunes to provide the in-tended erosion protection until we review the results of the beach sur vey.

In accordance with Technical Specification 4.7.6.1,1, the results of the survey should be submitted to the NRC within 30 days following the completion of'he survey.

Photos taken during the site visit are available in the Hydrologic Engineering Section files.
