Dear Mr. Dolan:
By letter dated February 20, 1987, the Indiana and Michigan Electric Company submitted a proposed license amendment for the Donald C.
Cook Plant, Unit No.
1 to account for increased burnup of Advanced Nuclear Fuel (formerly Exxon) fuel.
The IMEC request for burnups to 51MwD/kg is based on LOCA analyses to that burnup but only to 48.7 MwD/kg on mechanical considerations.
We will review your proposal to the requested levels but because our approval of Tech-nical Specifications must be supported by the analyses, we can consider the IMEC request only to the 48.7 MwD/kg exposure level.
It is requested that IMEC submit revised Technical Specifications to the 48.7 MwD/kg exposure level.
