Dear Hr. Denton:
This letter serves to withdraw our request for revision of Technical Specifications Table 2.2'.1 and Basis Item B.2.2.1 of Units 1 and 2 of the Donald C.
Cook Nuclear Plant.
These changes were described as change No.
7 of Attachment A to AEP:NRC:0297 dated November 2, 1979.
We are withdrawing our original request as per your staff's recommendation since the remedial actions described in our letter AEP:NRC:0315 dated
< November 29, 1979 are sufficient to address the issue of plant response to control rod drop events.
A permanent resolution of this issue will be accomplished after Westinghouse Electric Corporation issues their final report on the matter.
