SUBJEC:
Environmental gualification of Electrical Equipment Thi's letter transmits an Order which requires information to support the environmental qualification of safegy related electrical equipment at Donald C.
Cook Nuclear Plant, Unit Nos.
1 and 2.
The Comoission's Memorandum and Order of Nay 23. 1980 addresses safety related electrical equipment exposed to a harsh environment, inside or outside containment, resulting from an accident.
The Order requires that all such equipment in operating reactors be fully,qualified by June 30, 1982.
To complete this objective, you are required to submit, by November 1,
1980, all information to support a safety evaluation of the aforemen-tioned equipment.
If your facility had an established cotmitment date before November 1, 1980, it is fully expected that your submittal will be not later than that comnitment date. If your facility's commitment date is past without a complete submittal, it is-strongly recommended that actions be expedited since they have already impacted the staff revi ew schedule.
Briefings were held with all interested licensees during the week of July 17, 1980.
Enforcement actions relative to this Order were dis-cussed dur ing these briefings.
