Problems were encountered during safety injection phase A logic testing of the solid state protection system (SSPS) which required a reactor bypass trip breaker to be closed for greater than the two hours allowed by technical specification 3.3.1.1.

An unusual event was declared due to the initiation of a plant shutdown required by technical specification 3.3.2.1.

There were no challenges to the pressurizer safety valves or power operated relief valves.

Reactor trip bypass breaker A has been closed for greater than two hours due to problems with the safety injection phase A logic in the SSPS system discovered during surveillance testing.

Commenced unit shutdown due to reactor trip bypass breaker A being closed for greater than two hours.

Declared an unusual event due to initiating an ESF technical specification 3.3.2.1 required plant shutdown.
