Dear Dr. Murley:
In our February 6,
1989 letter, AEP:NRC:1033C, we committed to certain programmatic enhancements in response to Generic Letter 88-17, "Loss of Decay Heat Removal."
We informed you of the status of these enhancements in letter AEP:NRC:1033F dated May 21, 1991.
This letter is written to correct a statement made in letter AEP:NRC'1033F.
In our original letter, we committed to develop a permanent procedure for loss of RHR once we received the Emergency
Response
Guidelines and Background Document from the Westinghouse Owners Group, which we expected to receive in the fall of 1989.
In letter AEP:NRC:1033F, we informed you that we did not receive the WOG guidance until February 1991.
This statement is inaccurate.
The WOG guidance was actually provided in March of 1990.
Between March 1990 and February
- 1991, we conducted a review of the generic WOG guidance to address Cook Nuclear Plant site-specific issues.
A draft Emergency Operating Procedure has been written and is currently in routing for approval.
With respect to the current status of our commitment, we still intend to issue the loss of RHR procedure this summer after the operators are trained.
