~J Docket No. 50-315 Docket No. 50-316 Indiana Michigan Power Company ATTN:
Mr. Milton P. Alexich Vice President Nuclear Operations Division 1 Riverside Plaza
- Columbus, OH 43216 Gentlemen:
IIIe have received the enclosed Federal'mergency Management Agency (FEMA) letter and associated exercise report dated December 4,
1989, transmitting the FEMA Region V report for the August 23-24, 1988, exercise at the D.
C.
Cook Nuclear Power Station.
This was a partial-participation exercise for the State of Indiana and a full-participation exercise for Berrien County and the State of Michigan.
FEMA identified no deficiencies in the performance of offsite agencies during the exercise.
However, twenty-one areas requiring corrective action were identified by FEMA.
Based on its review of the exercise report and schedule of corrective actions, FEMA concluded that offsite radiological emergency preparedness is adequate to provide reasonable assurance that appropriate offsite measures can be taken to protect the health and safety of the public living in the vicinity of the D.

Sincerely,
