Cook Nuclear Plant program for the environmental qualification of electrical equipment important to safety.
The Indiana and Michigan Electric Company submittals dated June 12 and July 6, 1984 and the previous referenced submittals will be the basis for our safety evaluation on this subject.
In our preparation of the safety evaluation for all the plants, we have formulated a list of statements, (or request for statements or information) regarding the licensee's review which we would find acceptable as one method or process for review.
This list of statements is enclosed.
We recognize,
- however, that there are other acceptable processes and IMEC has addressed somewhat the one used to qualify equipment in the above referenced letters.
In order for us to complete our review, it is requested that IMEC develop a
list of statements similar to the enclosed (or responses) and where there are apparent differences, provide supplemental justification for acceptability of the D.

Cook process of review.
It is our intent to complete the safety evaluations in the near future.
Your response is requested within 30 days of receipt of this letter.
