Thank you for your letter dated May 1, 1989, in response to our April 5, 1989 letter concerning an allegation pertaining to fitness for duty at your Donald C.
Cook Station (Allegation RIII-89-A-0034).,
In our letter, we requested that you review the allegation, initiate an appropriate investigation, take any actions you deem necessary, and submit the results of your investigation to the NRC.
Your response indicated that while the'specific allegation was not substantiated, your investigation of the allegation, which consisted of i',nterviews and for cause drug testing of all employees of the named contractor, identified two individuals who were confirmed positive for indications of marijuana and have had their employment terminated.
Neither individual was assigned to work on safety-related equipment and access was mainly confined to the general areas of the auxiliary building.
There was no direct proven connection between those two specific individuals and the allegation.
We found your investigation to be sufficient to support your conclusions and have no additional question's regarding this matter.
We request that you retain the supporting documentation for your investigation of this allegation for a minimum of one year from the date of this letter.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
