HIGHLIGHTS'ONTHLYOPERATING ACTIVITIES - MARCH 1988 The reporting period began with Unit at its administrative power limit of 90K reactor'ower.

On 3-25-88, a reactor shutdown was commenced to begin the ice condenser surveillance outage.

The unit entered Mode 3 as of 3-26-88 where it remained until the surveillance outage was complete.

A unit startup was commenced on 3-27-88, with the reactor critical at 1135 that day.

Reactor power stabilized at 90% as of 3-29-88.

The reporting period ended with the unit in Mode 1 at 90K reactor power.

Gross electrical generation for the month of March was 653,610 MWH.

DETAILS 03-25-88 1700 Commenced a power reduction at 10$/hour to begin the ice condenser surveillance outage.

03-26-88 0005 Transferred auxiliary loads from normal feed to reserve feed.

0229 Tripped the main turbine generator.

0236 Operators began inserting control banks.

Entered Mode 2.

1052 Commenced Unit 1 reactor startup (Entered Mode 2).

1135 Unit 1 reactor is critical.

1455 Entered Mode 1.

1701 Main generator paralleled to the grid.

The I to I module

( IFY-446) was found to be defective.

The defective module was replaced, calibrated per 1-'HP6030.IMP. 101, surveillance test 1-THP4030.STP. 103 performed and the channel declared operable.

734694 The Boric Acid Storage Tank Transfer Pump (pp-46-1) to North Boric Acid Filter Shutoff Valve (1-CS-416-1) would not operate.

The stem was found to be loose.

The bonnet assembly was replaced and the valve tested satisfactorily.
