By letter dated March ll, 1987, the Indiana and Michigan Electric Company (IMEC) amended the earlier position on the supervision of the manual iso-lation, valves associated with the reactor coolant pump fire suppression systems.
IMEC now intends to chain and lock open these valves located inside the Unit 1 containment and, if necessary in the future, to follow the same procedure for Unit 2 should the position-indication tamper switches also begin to fail in Unit 2.
We agree that these valves located inside containment may use either the tamper switches or the chain and locks to assure the valves are open and capable of performing their intended function.
We, therefore, agree with your amended position.
