All licensees were required by Generic Letter 83-28, Item 2.2. 1, to describe in considerable detail their programs for classifying all safety-related components other than Reactor Trip System (RTS) components as safety-related on documents and in information handling systems that are used to control plant activities that may affect these components.
The Indiana and Michigan Electric Company submitted responses by letters dated November 4, 1983, March 30, 1984, and December 19, 1986 for the Donald C.
Cook Nuclear Plant, Unit Nos.
1 and 2.
Our review of these responses as documented in the enclosed contractor's report (EG8G-NTA-7329) finds the IMEC responses for this item to be acceptable.
The enclosed safety evaluation documents our concurrence with the contractor's findings and also finds the IMEC responses for this item to be acceptable.
We, therefore, consider Item 2.2. 1 to be closed by this action.
Generic Letter 83-28, Item 2. 2. 2 remains open and will be the subject of separate correspondence.
