Dear Mr. Davis:
This is to confirm a verbal report made to the NRC Operations Center via the Emergency Notification System at 1006 hours0.0116 days <br />0.279 hours <br />0.00166 weeks <br />3.82783e-4 months <br /> on May 26, 1987., At that time the NRC Operations Center was informed that, the Fire Suppression Water System was not operable as required by Technical Specification 3.7.9.l.b due to the planned isolation of a portion of the east leg of the outside fire protection ring header.
This isolation was required to facilitate rerouting of the cross tie between the ring header and the Auxiliary Building Fire Protection Systems.
This relocation was necessitated due to new construction in this area.
The relocation of the Fire Protection cross tie piping is expected to be completed within thirty days and the Fire Protection System returned to service by June 30, 1987.
No safety related Fire Protection Systems were removed from service due to the isolation of this section of Fire Protection piping.
Backup fire protection is available from nearby fire hydrants.
This letter will fulfillthe requirements of Technical Specification 3.7.9.1 action b.2b which requires a follow up report within twenty-four hours of the telephone call to the Emergency Notification Center and Technical Specification 3.7.9.1 action b.2c that requires a follow up report within fourteen days.
