20555 Dear Mr. Denton The purpose of this letter is to provide the proposed schedule for the performance of both the conduit sealing at D.
C.
Cook and the study and'esting program.
In our letter AEP:NRC:0692AG, dated September 13,
- 1985, we committed to a walkdown to identify and add one seal to conduits which penetrate a
fire barrier and which are open at both ends.
In our letter AEP:NRC:0692AQ, dated May 30,
- 1986, we indicated that the walkdown had been completed and that in some instances we might seal the end of any open-ended conduits identified during the'walkdown.
We have already sealed some of the conduits identified during the walkdown.
Our proposed schedule for completion of the conduit sealing is July 31, 1987.
In our May 30, 1986 letter, we also informed you that we are involved in a utility group sponsored study and testing project to determine the need to internally seal conduit to maintain fire barriers.
This project is being coordinated by Wisconsin Electric Power
- Company, which sent a letter dated July 7,
- 1986, to Mr. G. A. Arlotto, Director of the Division of Engineering Technology.
A copy of this letter, which outlines the project
- tasks, is attached for your convenience.
It should be noted, however, that based on recent information, we believe that the completion date for the project will be approximately March 1987, rather than December 1986 as stat'ed in the letter.
We will review and evaluate the results of the study to determine the impact, if any, on the D.
C.
Cook Plant conduit sealing program.
We will advise you of any significant departure from our proposed sealing program as outlined herein.
