This confirms a telephone conversation between Messrs.
J. Feinstein/P.
Barrett of your staff and Mr. J.
F.
Suermann of this office on October 17, 1985, in which it was confirmed that an Enforcement Conference between American Electric Power Service Corporation and the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be conducted beginning at 10:00 a.m.
on Wednesday, November 13, 1985, at the NRC's Region III Office in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss problems with management controls over testing activities.
Specific events that will be included in the discussion are described in Inspection Reports 85027, 85028, and 85029.
We also plan to discuss the results of a study we have been conducting on the regulatory performance of the D.
C.
Cook facility over the past three years.
We understand that W. S. White, Jr.,
Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of American Electric Power Company, is planning to attend this meeting.
