Dear Mr. Adamkus:

RE: D. C. Cook Nuclear Plant NPDES Permit No. MI005827 Heating Boiler Blowdown A blowdown sample taken September 1., 1985 from the heating boiler which was placed in use on July 16, 1985 after a considerable period of in-activity, was found to contain an iron concentration of 3.9 PPM.

Since chemical treatment of this boiler is made by batch addition, we believe the iron level in the blowdown is due to chemical shock.
