copy of the report. to the Michigan Water Resources Commission notifying them of a high concentration of iron in the Plant Backup Heating Boiler on July 18,
- 1985, and July 19, 1985, is attached.
This report is required by Amendment No.
54 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-58 and Amendment No.
40 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-74 dated May 6, 1982.

Cook Nuclear Plant NPDES Permit No. MI 0005827 Boiler Blowdown Iron Limit With both nuclear units out of service, the plant heating boiler was started on July 16, 1985.
A blowdown sample taken on July 18, 1985 contained an iron concentration of 9 PPM.
A second sample taken July 19, 1985 had an iron con-centration of 6 PPM.
The iron level is most likely the result of infrequent use of the boiler,.
