During recent administration of operator license examinations at the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant, three of the NRC examiners were denied access to certain areas of the plant because of their facial hair, even though use of respiratory protectioMaquipment w'as, not. required.
This action hindered.the conduct of the examination process and could potentially interfere with our inspection program.
Xn order for us to understand your policy concerning facial hair and its effect on access to your plant facilities, we request that you submit to us a statement of your policy, the basis for your policy, and the implementing plant procedures in this matter.
He are particularly interested in how your plant procedures address short term visitors such as NRC personnel.
If your policy is based on federal or state regulations, please include specific reference to the applicable regulatory require-ment:(s).
