Since the Three Mile Island incident, the HRC Commissioners, the public and the media have expressed an increased interest in the status of operating nuclear power plants snd fuel facilities.. This interest has now reached a level where it is desixable to know, on a daily basis, the status of nuclear facilities with an operating license.
Qe request your cooperation in obtaining this information.
Qe plan to contact each operating facility on the dedicated phone during the last half of the 12100 midnight to 8100 a.m. shift each day.
This call willalso be used as the check of the dedicated telephone line.
The amount of time required should not exceed one or two minutes for any facility since we willonly be asking for the operating status of each plant. If a unit is not fully opexational, we would like to have a very brief description of the reason for this.
During prolonged outeges, we willnot make these status calls.
