to Request for Additional Information Regarding Proposed Technical Specification Amendment for Steam Generator Tube Sleeving.
Dear Sirs:
Arizona Public Service Company (APS), through active involvement with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), understands that the NRC will soon be issuing a Generic
- Letter, Regulatory Guide (DG-1074) and proposed Technical SpeciTications regarding steam generator tube integrity.
We are aware that these documents may have a significant impact on our current Technical Specifications as well as our proposed sleeving Technical Specification amendment.
Therefore, APS would like to postpone providing the information that you requested in your letter to APS dated September 11,
- 1997, regarding our proposed Technical Specification amendment request, until APS has had the opportunity to assess the impact of these documents and has had the opportunity to review any industry position that may be developed in response to these documents.
In that way, any new and pertinent guidance that the Generic Letter, Regulatory Guide, proposed Technical Specifications or industry position may be incorporated, ifappropriate for APS, into our proposed Technical Specification amendment request.
APS also recognizes that this postponement will result in delaying your review and approval of our proposed amendment request.
Once the Generic Letter, Regulatory Guide and proposed Technical SpeciTications are issued, APS will work with you to develop a new schedule to allow for timely review and approval of our proposed amendment request.
