NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-528;-529;-530/97-01
Dear Mr. Levine:
An NRC inspection was conducted January 13-17, 1997, at your Palo Verde Nuclear
Generating Station, Units 1, 2, and 3, reactor facilities. The enclosed report presents the
scope and results of that inspection.
This inspection evaluated the effectiveness of your licensed operator requalification
program.
The inspection used the biennial licensed operator requalification examinations to
assess
licensed operator performance.
The inspection also evaluated your operations
training staff in the development, administration, and evaluation of the biennial
requalification examination.
Overall, we observed good licensed operator performance in
all competency areas with some minor inconsistencies.
Your operations training staff
developed, administered,
and evaluated the requalification examinations professionally and
accurately.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice,"
a copy of this letter
and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased to discuss
them with you.
