Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVNGS)

Unit 2 Docket No. STN 50-529 Schedule for Battery Testing File: 94-056-026'4-005<1 9.05 On October 12, 1994, Arizona Public Service Company (APS) submitted proposed compensatory testing requirements (Reference 2) in support of a proposed Technical Specification amendment submitted October 9, 1994 (Reference 1), concerning the 125VDC safety-related batteries.

Reference 2 committed to performing testing on representative samples of battery cells removed from Unit 2 (referred to as Control Groups) as one of the bases for continued operability.

Reference 3 reiterated our commitment to perform testing on the second control group by the end of November.

Currently that test is scheduled for November 29, 1994.

The NRC Staff has requested to be present at the testing of Control Group ¹2 cells, and that testing be performed on December 1, 1994. Arizona Public Service Company has agreed to this request and will now perform testing of the second control group on December 1, 1994.

All other commitments remain in effect.
