Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVNGS)
Units 1,2, and 3 Docket Nos. STN 50-528/529/530 Post-Restart Record No. 815 File: 93-056-026 The Management Observation Pr'ogram (MOP) committed to in the referenced letter (Post-Restart Record No. 815) is being modified to place more emphasis on human performance observation.
Currently, the MOP requires management to observe work activities in the field once a month. The MOP tours are conducted in various areas of the plant, but usually not in the area of the manager's department.
The MOP includes a routine schedule and checklists to facilitate supervisors and managers in observing employees performing tasks. The new program reserves time twice a week for supervisors and managers to observe and coach their own employees.
This increased interaction provides a means for management to verify that expectations, such as procedural adherence, self-checking and attention to detail, are understood and implemented.
Because specified time is reserved twice a week for management to observe their own employees, the schedules and checklists are no longer needed and the MOP procedure will be cancelled.
