RE UEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Enclosure The following questions stem from a comparison of the safety valve as-found setpoints tables presented in your May 27, 1992, letter (pp.7-8) and in your Hay 13, 1993,,letter (p. 6).

In addition, information contained in LER 92-005-01, dated April 24,

1993, was also used in comparison.

General Please explain why the two tables of the safety valve as-found setpoints presented in your Hay 27, 1992, letter (see pp. 7-8) listed only those valves that were found with positive tolerance.

2.

3.

Please provide that data used to construct the tables in your May 27, 1992, letter.

How many of the pressurizer safety valves are tested during each outage'ain Steam Safet Valves 2.

3.

Please explain why the number of valves with the as-found tolerance between 1X and 2X tolerance is different for Unit 2 in your Hay 27, 1992, letter than in your Hay 13, 1993, letter (26 vs.

27, respectively).

Your Hay 27, 1992, letter indicated that the total number of valves that had been tested for Unit 3 is 62.

During the Unit 3 outage in October

1992, 20 additional main steam safety valves (HSSVs) were tested (see LER 92-005-1).

Your May 13,

1993, letter states that 80 valves were tested.

Please explain the discrepancy (80 vs. 82).

Your letter of Hay 27, 1992, indicates that for Unit 3 the number of valves with the as-found tolerance between 2X and 3X is 4.

According to LER 92-005-01, two additional valves with the as-found tolerance between 2X and 3X tolerance were found.

Please clarify why your Hay 13, 1993, letter gives the number of valves with the as-found tolerance between 2X and 3X as 5 rather than 6.

Pressurizer Safet Valves Your May 27, 1992, letter indicates that the total number of valves tested for Unit 1 is 11.

However, in your Hay 13,

1993, letter, the total number of valves tested has decreased to 8.

Please explain the reason for the decreased testing.

\\ ~

I

2.

Please provide an explanation regarding the omission of the Unit 3, April 1991 outage test data in your Hay 27,

1992, letter.

3.

Please explain the discrepancy in the number of valves with the as-found tolerance between 1X and 2X cited in your May 27,

1992, and Hay 13, 1993, letters (3 vs.2, respectively).

In addition, please explain why the number of valves with the as-found tolerance greater than 3X in your Nay 27, 1992, letter is 0 and the number of valves with the as-found tolerance between 3X and 4X is l.
