Docket No. 50-244 UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D. C. 20555 February 20, 1981 Mr. John E. Maier Rochester Gas 5

E 1 ectri c Corporation 89 East Avenue Rochester, New York 14649

Dear Mr. Maier:

As discussed with the representative of your Company (R. Smith, R. MeCreedy, and G. Wrobel), the information described below are required to continue our seismic review of Ginna Nuclear Plant.

l.

A list of piping systems inside containment-In order for the staff to make a random selection of two piping systems to perform our independent audit review, provide a complete list of piping systems located inside containment.

In this list, you may include those systems which you already completed the analytical portion under your seismic upgrade program.

2.

Detailed piping i nformation of the two piping systems to be selected for our independent audit review-The necessary information of each system is described in Attachment l.

In addition, provide the detailed computer model (lumped mass locations, member stiffnesses, support spring constant, boundary conditions, etc.)

of these two systems which'ad been used for your seismic upgrade program.

These models will be used for the comparison with our independent generated models.

We request your responses to the first item by February 27, 1981 and to the second item by March 31, 1981.

Sincerely, Att'achment:

~ orces and moments due to relief valve discharge, connected lines and components, etc.

The design specification.

It is recognized that the design spec-ification would include some of the above data.

Unless otherwise directed the fo'llowing assumptions will be made:

All components are butt welded (flush) and forged (no longitudinal components).

Meld specifications would be needed if verification of this assumption is reou$ red.

All components meet ANSI 816.9 and ANSI B16.28 standards.'*

The requirements of ASME Code. Section Ill'. Subsubarticle NC-36a0 are satisfied.
