I saw the letter that was distributed yesterday. It prompted me to submit our letter, which had been drafted pending the Federal Register notice seeking public comments on the license amendment request. The recent letter seemed an opportunity to put our comments on the table before the Federal Register notice. As you point out, it's entirely possible that NextEra may address some or all of our comments in its pending supplement, which would simplify things for all parties.

RE: UCS comments on Seabrook's ASR license amendment request Hello Dave, I was able to open the PDF so it appears it made it through our firewall. Thanks for the comments. Ill take a look at them and get back to you. Keep in mind we have not yet published our Federal Register notice for this amendment since we are still performing the acceptance review. You may have seen the letter that was Listserved yesterday where we stated that they needed to provided additional information for us to continue the review. If you havent seen it, let me know and I can send it. The information that they send to supplement the application may (or may not) address your comments.

Attached is a PDF with our comments on the license amendment request recently submitted by Seabrook to address its ASR degradation within the current licensing basis.
I've used hyperlinks in the PDF for cited sources. Some NRC staffers have experienced problems with linked PDFs not getting through the NRC's cyber firewalls. Other NRC staffers have not encountered this problem. If you have a problem, let me know and I can send along a PDF without the links.
