OPERATOR INTERVIEWS PALO VERDE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION As you are

aware, the NRC staff and two contractors from Brookhaven National Laboratory visited the Palo Verde site on February 9 and 10, 1993, to interview operators.

The purpose of the interviews was to discuss operating experience with the CE System 80 design that would be pertinent to the NRC staff's review of the CE System 80+ advanced control room design.

We would like to express our appreciation to you and Arizona Public Service Company for providing this opportunity.

We found the operator interviews to be invaluable.

The information and insights shared with us will be extremely helpful in the NRC staff's review process of the new design.

In addition, we would like to thank Dick Bernier, who provided assistance in arranging and scheduling the operator interviews.

His efforts contributed substantially toward making the interviews successful.
